 Who is Allah?

Islam

*

“He is Allah, the One besides whom there is no other deity, Knower of the unseen and the Witnessed. He is the most Merciful, the Compassionate. He is Allah, the One besides whom there is no other deity, the Sovereign, the Holy One, the Source of Peace, the Bestower of Safety, the Guardian, the Exalted, the Irresistible, the Supreme. Glory be to Allah above whatever they associate with Him! He is Allah, the Creator, the Maker, the Fashioner. To Him belong the most beautiful Names. Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth glorifies Him, and He is the exalted, the Wise.” Quran [59:22-24]

The Verse of the Throne

Ayat Al-Kursi

*

“Allah! There is no god but He – the Living, The Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him Nor Sleep. His are all things In the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede In His presence except As he permitteth? He knoweth What (appeareth to His creatures As) Before or After or Behind them. Nor shall they compass Aught of his knowledge Except as He willeth. His throne doth extend Over the heavens And on earth, and He feeleth No fatigue in guarding And preserving them, For He is the Most High. The Supreme (in glory).”
[Surah al-Baqarah 2: 255]

The Verse of Oneness of God

Ayaat Al-Tawhid

“In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate. Say (O Muhammad) He is God the One God, the Everlasting Refuge, who has not begotten, nor has been begotten, and equal to Him is not anyone.” 112:1-5

Who is Allah (swt)? Allah is the name of God. This name does not belong to any one group, and it is not specified into any category. The name of Allah is simply universal. It is the name that God has chosen for Himself. This is the name that has been uttered by the first man to walk this earth, the angels, prophets, messengers, and those who believed in the one true message and followed them. God is One. There is no other God.

And your God is One God. There is no deity [worthy of worship] except Him, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. (Al-Baqarah 2:163)

*
The most High is nothing like what He created, and remains unique to all that surrounds Him. The nature of the Almighty is so infinite and vast that it does not compare to any. The attributes of the Almighty are entirely ever existent, while the attributes of mankind are finite and are influenced by emotions, limited intellectual capacities, characteristic deviancy, and the ever changing social environment.

O mankind! Remember the grace of Allah upon you! Is there any creator other than Allah  who provides for you from the sky (rain) and the earth? There is no deity [worthy of  worship] except Him, how then are you turning away (from Him)? (Faatir 35:3)

*
Mankind is selfish, while Allah the most High is Selfless. The Exalted Creator of this universe is not in need of His creation, rather the creation are in need of Him. God Almighty is dis-attached from emotions and is above all of its influences; the most High is a morally upright God, who is Just, Fair, Loving and Merciful when given the circumstances. He is also swift in retribution, given the circumstances. And His Divine Justice and Fairness is a part of His Mercy.

And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your  parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of  disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honor. (Al-Israa’ 17:23)

*
Allah is the Creator of heaven and its bliss, and He is also the Creator of Hell and its punishment. He is the creator of the heavens, the earth, and all that is in between. He is the creator of your mother, your father, your ancestors, and you and I. He is my Lord and He is your Lord.
“God is the Creator of everything. He is the Guardian over everything. Unto Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth.” (39:62, 63)

“That is Allah your Lord! There is no god but He! The Creator of all things: then worship ye Him: and He hath power to dispose of all affairs.”

*
Allah is Absolute. He is infinite, and we are finite. He is unlimited, and we are limited. The Creator of this universe is unlike mankind. He is exactly Unique, exalted and above His creation. Neither sleep, nor slumber seizes Him.
“There is no god but He, the Living, the Everlasting. Slumber seizes Him not, neither sleep; to Him belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth.” 2:255
*
And He begets not, nor is He begotten.
“In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate. Say (O Muhammad) He is God the One God, the Everlasting Refuge, who has not begotten, nor has been begotten, and equal to Him is not anyone.” 112:1-5
*
He is not in need of time and space, for time and space are limited perceptions of man, to make sense of the celestial cycle of this universe.  He is God, therefore He is God-like, Absolute in His perfection and perfect are His characteristics.
“Say (O Muhammad), ‘He is Allah, (the) One. The Self-Sufficient Master.'” 112:1-2
*
He is the first. He is the Ever-Lasting, the Ever-Existing. He is the Originator of the heavens and the earth and the Originator of mankind.
And of His signs is that He created you from dust; then, suddenly you were human beings  dispersing [throughout the earth]. (Ar-Room 30:20)
“O mankind! Call to mind the grace of Allah unto you! Is there a Creator other than Allah to give you sustenance from heaven or earth? There is no god but He: how then are ye deluded away from the Truth?” 35:3
“Allah is the Creator of all things and He is the Guardian and Disposer of all affairs.” 39:62
*
…and He is the Creator of both life and death.
“[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed – and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving.” 67:2
*
He is all Forgiving, Merciful, and Ever Watchful of mankind, Just and Fair, and for man He has appointed a prescribed term;
“The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all in between Exalted in Might Able to enforce His Will, forgiving again and again.” 38:66
